A movie about a paranormal detective....!?
I like weird shit. No, I don't mean tentacle porn or the adventures of some interstellar sex dwarf...I mean modern folklore, like UFOs & aliens & ghosts. That kind of weird shit. One of my shining moments, after all, was having Journey to the West reviewed by the Fortean Times.
Coincidentally, Barbara & her daughter, Morganna, watched Heathers a few weeks ago, and Barbara and I were wondering if Christian Slater had done anything recently.
So when I see a blurb on Rotten Tomatoes about Alone in the Dark, I think, "Hm. Wonder if it's good."
Apparently not.
I think it's the lowest I've ever seen the Tomatometer, at 1%. The reviews, however, are priceless:
"Alone in the Dark doesn't even deserve the indignity of going straight-to-video"
-- Christian Toto, WASHINGTON TIMES
"so far off the scale bad that the only possible reaction is to laugh at it -- and I do mean at it and not with it."
-- Steve Rhodes, STEVE RHODES' INTERNET REVIEWS
"Thanks for the surgical enhancement, Tara Reid. As I always say, if saline made you a great actor then Sean Penn would have gills."
-- Mark Ramsey, MOVIEJUICE!
"Too stupid to watch, too loud to nap through, Alone in the Dark shows just how tenuous Plan Nine From Outer Space's hold on that 'worst movie ever' title really is."
-- Roger Moore, ORLANDO SENTINEL
...and so on. (Of course, just to show how out of it I am, I had to check IMDB to see who Tara Reid is. I think the only one of her oeuvre with which I'm familiar is The Big Lebowski.)
Guess I'll have to just go & watch Ghostbusters again.

Hi, you don't know me and I just stumbled here from 9LMM. (I'd rave and rave and beg you to do more, but I understand that when a project is done, it's done.)
A paranormal detective -movie- Cast a Deadly Spell. Hard to find, but well worth it.
A paranormal detective -book- the Rowan Gant series by M.R. Sellars.
